Pearce Cycles Midlands Summer Series Round 3 - 17/18 May

Woah! It's May already! Anyway, Round 3 of the Midlands Series was at Bringewood again, on the old track. It was super super slidy (as it always is) in practice on Saturday after a load of rain prior to the race, and I have to say I really didn't feel very fast. I also thought that my bike seemed a bit noisy which was getting on my nerves a bit but it turned out I just had too much air in my tyres - what a fool!

The next day there had been a load more rain in the night and the top of the track was super slippery. I didn't get much more than 50yds from the start line without properly sliding right off about three times which was ridiculously annoying, but I clearly should have changed my tyres. I had a feeling that by the time I got back up the track after sticking a mud tyre on the front, that it would have dried out loads and the High Rollers would've been fine. I wasn't wrong, but I decided not to worry and kept the mud tyre on anyway. By the end of the day the track was much much drier, and in my second run I hit pretty much all my lines perfectly, pedalled loads, and ended up taking the win from Aimee by 5 seconds. Pretty stoked! That also means I'm leading the series!

Yeti 575 arrives!

The short travel XC frame is here! In turquoise! Oh yeaaaah! I'm pretty stoked. This bike is described as a trail bike on the Yeti website, and has 5.75” travel (funnily enough) so I'm hoping to build it into a mini dh bike with uphill capabilities. It also has a full carbon back end, and a Fox RP23 air shock which will be interesting as I'm not much of an air shock enthusiast. The frame weighs 6lbs which is only a pound lighter than my bmx frame which is smaller and has no suspension.. crazy! I was originally going to go for the Small, but this one is a medium, so wonder how its going to be...
